Obituary for Ruth E. Spangler (Howell)

Ruth Elizabeth Spangler, age 82 passed away on October 23, 2016. She was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey to James and Marion Howell on August 20, 1934. She attended Ottawa University in Ottawa Kansas. On April 9, 1955 she married John C. Spangler in Great Bend Kansas, by both their fathers who were Baptist ministers. They moved to Wisconsin and lived in the Madison area for over 50 years. Ruth worked in group homes and was a resident manager at a senior home before retiring. She enjoyed photographs, teddy bears, playing the piano, singing and spending time with her husband and family. She is survived by her husband John, her daughters, Sharon Alfano (James) of New York, Carol O’Dell (Patrick) of Hales Corners, granddaughters Heather Hoff (Jeff) of New York, and Emily O’Dell of Hales Corners. She is also survived by four great grandchildren, Ava, Audrey, Henry and Nathan Hoff who live in New York. Since 2014, Ruth had been a resident at Franciscan Villa in South Milwaukee. Memorial service at the Franciscan Villa chapel on November 4, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.
