Obituary for Maynard O. Stromberg

Passed away peacefully on March 25, 2016. Maynard was born on August 2, 1917 in Iola, Wisconsin to Sophia (Colden) and Engebret J. Stromberg. He graduated from high school and attended Luther Collge in Decorah, Iowa for one year. He entered military service with the US Army in 1942, serving with the 11th Field Hospital and saw combat in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France and Germany.

On his return to the US, he graduated from the Wisconsin Teachers College in Stevens Point. He taught at White Lake and Mosinee high schools in Wisconsin. On August 9, 1952 he married Ruby Nelson in Milwaukee. She preceded him in death on April 19, 2005. He began his long career as a technical estimation specialist with the Ladish Company in August, 1952. He retired from Ladish in December, 1980. He was a member of Unity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Maynard was an avid hunter, target shooter and fisherman. He loved classical music, especially Norwegian violin music. He followed the Packers and Brewers with enthusiasm. He was a member and supporter of the Iola Historical Society and facilitated the display of his father's violin-making tools and instruments. He is survived by many extended family and exceptional friends. Visitation at the funeral home on Thursday from 12 to 1 with a service to follow. Entombment at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
