It started one lovely afternoon, I was enjoying spending the day with my mom when all of a sudden I heard a sound coming from my furnace. I wasn't sure what it was and my mom said it sounds like something's trapped inside. It dawned on me it must have been a bird that fell through the vent on my roof. I heard it frantically flapping it's wings to try to get out. This went on for two and a half hours, all the while we realized we couldn't do anything until my boyfriend got home from work. It bothered us so much that I decided to go over and look to see if I could see it anywhere and to my surprise it was in view of the pilot light door so I decided to open it up and out crawled the bird onto the floor. I opened the hallway door and it made it's way outside. I then scooped it up, called the Wildlife Preserve and they told me to bring it in. I no sooner got in my car with the little bird and it outstretched it's wings and died. I felt so bad since it worked so hard to get out of the furnace only to die. My Mom, being the extremely wise person she was said..."Well Julianne sometimes it's not about the end result but about the work you put in along the way" I truly believe that was a metaphor for her life also as she always tried her best, never complained, came so far but wasn't able to achieve full success. She worked so hard to overcome her condition and that is to be commended! Your free at last Mom (and poor birdie!)
