Obituary for Marguerite M Simmons

Marguerite M Simmons
Born to this world June 2, 1924. Called to her Eternal Reward and reunited in Heaven with her loving husband, Edward on November 24, 2016.

She was a woman of quiet strength and a deep faith in God who was impressive in the way she always made the best of whatever came her way in life, including surviving the demands of a large family and the devastating loss in 1987 of her beloved husband, whom she loved and missed until the end.

Proud and loving mother of 12 children: Kathleen (James) Olson, Marguerite "Margie" (Michael) Kitzke, Edward (Jo Ann) Simmons, Patricia (Cory) Connery, Thomas (Mary Helen) Simmons, Mary (Roger) Radke, Susan (Neal) Wucherer, Timothy (Julie) Simmons, Martha (Beth Cabral) Simmons, Carol (Shawn) Chilson, Michael (Donna) Simmons, and Jeanne (Scott Zmudzinski) Simmons. Cherished Grandma to 30 grandchildren and special GG to 28 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, the late F.J. and Marguerite Scheibelhut of Mishawaka, IN and her sister, the late Lois (and the late, John) Hunt of Vienna, VA. Sister-in-law to the late John and Lois DeBettencourt, Mary and the late Robert Simmons, Barbara and the late Richard Simmons, and Marion and Edward Linhares. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Lifetime member of Marquette University President's Council and the Divine Mercy Christian Women's Sodality. She was a longtime volunteer for the Milwaukee County Elderly Nutritional Program-Warnimont site and a Eucharistic Minister at Divine Mercy Parish. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the caregivers of Ramsey Woods Residence of Cudahy for the patient and loving care they provided to their mother over the past 2 years. She truly felt at home there.

As a long standing believer in the value of Catholic education and a supporter of the mission of Marquette University, Mickey would be pleased if, in lieu of flowers, you would consider a donation to the Edward D. Simmons Family Scholarship Fund at Marquette University. Visitation on Tuesday, November 29 at Divine Mercy Parish (800 Marquette Ave, South Milwaukee) from 3 to 5 pm with Mass of Christian Burial at 5 pm. Private entombment.
