Obituary for Emma Rosa Dick (Hauerwas)

Emma Rosa  Dick (Hauerwas)
Emma R. Dick was reunited with her beloved husband, Vernon, on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the age of 90.
Emma was a life-long resident of Oak Creek, born on August 31, 1925 the daughter of John and Clara (nee Hahn) Hauerwas. She was raised on the family farm and graduated from South Milwaukee High School in 1943. On October 9, 1948, she married Vernon Dick sharing 47 years together until his death in 1996. They made their home and raised their family in Oak Creek. Together with her husband, Emma often enjoyed weekends at their trailer in Wisconsin Dells camping with friends.
Emma was a faithful member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church having been baptized, confirmed and married there. She loved watching the birds in her yard, gardening and crocheting. Over the years Emma crocheted numerous afghans, baby blankets and dozens of Christmas ornaments which she loved to give to friends and relatives. Her family was her pride and joy. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.
Emma will be sadly missed by her children, Stanley Dick of South Milwaukee, WI, Dale (Lisa) Dick of Glencoe, AR, and Debbie (Mike) Zerbel of Green Bay, WI. She was the dear grandmother of Mike, Andrea, Erin, Samantha and Kyle and great-grandmother of Morgan. She is further survived by her nieces and nephews Joan, Lloyd, Allen, Kathy, Laurie, Pam and John along with other relatives, friends and neighbors. In addition to her husband Vernon, she was preceded in death by her brother Robert Hauerwas, sister Norma Kiekhefer, and brother Kenneth Hauerwas.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 900 Michigan Avenue, South Milwaukee, WI 53172. Pastor Aaron Weber will preside. Interment will take place at Forest Hill Memorial Cemetery following the service. Memorials in Emma’s name are appreciated to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, the American Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
