Obituary for Irene S. Szocik (Radoszewski)

Irene Salomea Szocik of Milwaukee, born May 24, 1924, found peace on May 26, 2015 at the age of 91. Irene was blessed with many talents in her life. She was a gifted painter, a dedicated homemaker, a skilled creator of chicken soup and dumplings, and she had an unparalleled ability to listen. Despite the many demands of a mother with six children, she could always make you feel like the most important person in the room. Mom always accepted people for who they were with an open mind and an open kitchen. She loved to sing, dance and smile. Daughter of Joseph and Eva Radoszewski, she is preceded in death by her husband, John R. Szocik, and her daughter Carolyn Szocik. Irene is survived by her children Irene (Jim) Koster, Sr. Linda Szocik, Mark (Linda) Szocik, Cathy (the late Mel) Funk and Robert (Lisa) Szocik; grandchildren Stephanie, Dave, Matt, Kyle, Tracy, Valerie, Rachel, Melanie, Alex, Eva and Ingrid; twelve great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bushie was one of the true good ones, she touched the lives of many and will be remembered always. Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church (3635 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., St. Francis, WI) from 9:30 – 11:00 AM Friday, May 29, 2015 with a funeral service at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Sisters of St. Joseph TOSF.
