To have and to hold til death do us part. A beautiful love story admired by family and friends. Sue Patnode, 86, of Oak Creek and South Milwaukee fell asleep with the angels surrounded by her loving husband and family. Sue was the cherished wife of 65 years to Ken Patnode Sr. and a loving mother to Twyla Niedfeldt, Sondra ( Greg) Wickersheim, Lorene ( Joel) Halvorson, and Ken ( Karen) Patnode Jr.
She and Ken were also blessed and adored by 19 grandchildren, and 24 great- grandchildren.
Sue was predeceased by her parents, Luella Benson and Charles Dupee, and siblings Bruce ( Lynn) Benson, Sandy ( David) Anderson and June (Dupee)
She is survived by siblings Carlene (Duane) Schultz, Marlene Rubenzer, Terry ( Carol) Benson, Doug Benson, Ron ( Linda) Dupee
and many other family members and friends.
Sue was a proud wife, mother, and homemaker. She was a tireless and compassionate volunteer and caregiver- Girl Scout Leader, Church Cook for youth groups, Meals on Wheels, Hospice Companion, Interfaith, and more. She loved cooking with Ken's bounty from the garden, and there was always enough for surprise guests or she re- invented the leftovers. Ken and Sue lovingly welcomed Bessie Patnode into their home, and Sue was her devoted caregiver in Bessie's later years.
Ken and Sue enjoyed many travels and adventures with family and friends, visiting most of the 50 States, including Alaska and Jamaica. Sue didn't make it to Hawaii, but her family brought a surprise Hawaiian celebration to her.
The family would like to thank the staff at Howard Village in St Francis, and Franciscan Gardens and Franciscan Villa in South Milwaukee for kind and compassionate care. The family will be forever grateful to Badger Hospice caregivers for providing Sue with a comfortable and peaceful transition.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 14th from 10am- 12pm at Molthen Bell Funeral Home, 700 Milwaukee Ave, South Milwaukee, Wisc. Service to follow at the funeral home.
