With heavy Hearts, we announce the passing of our father Stanley G. Matusewick, 93, of South Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Born in Montreal, Wisconsin to Vincent Matusewick and Agnes Lunkus, he was the youngest of 9 children: Joe, John, Jenny, Ed, Mary, Alex, Vincent and Frank. He graduated from Hurley High school. He loved northern Wisconsin, especially the Gile Flowage where his cabin was.
He moved to Milwaukee, Wi and met his wife Marlene Zinda. They married in 1953 and had 3 children, Debra (Greg) Canak, Cheryl (Frank) Parker/Schultz, Joe (Debi) Matusewick. Stanley was a family man, he enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors with his grandsons Brian (Jamie) and Matthew (Kim). He often spoke about his legacy, and how much joy it brought to him seeing the great granddaughters deer hunting and catching the "big one". A few years ago at a family reunion, all 4 of the great-granddaughters were using the log splitter and stacking wood. He smiled and said proudly, "They will succeed in life".
Our father had many hobbies which we all admired. He was a wood carver, enjoyed taxidermy, would go metal detecting, and loved the casino. He also believed in community service and volunteering. He was active in the Lakeridge Boat Club, Human Concerns, and the Friends of Gile Flowage, where he assisted in a scholarship program. Stanley was also instrumental in working with Milwaukee County Parks in the establishment of Bender Park for a new boat launch. He also served in the Wisconsin National Guard for six years.
His friends up north called him "Stache". He retired from Ladish at the age of 59 and spent his time between the cabin and his home in South Milwaukee. Our father, like many, has a very extended family, leaving behind 7 grandchildren Brian, Matthew, Lyn, Mike, Beth, Mark, and Andy. There are 12 great grandchildren: Madelyn, Mavie, Elliana, Lauren, Cody, Alyssa, Molly and Logan. Lastly, his first great, great grandson, Owen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a wealth of friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday June 16 at Molthen-Bell & Son Funeral Home (700 Milwaukee Ave, South Milwaukee, WI) from 11 to 12:30 visitation with a memorial service at 12:30. Followed by luncheon at BE Club at 1:00 (1919 12th Ave in South Milwaukee, WI)
