Ruth Lewis

July 12, 1918 — December 29, 2019

Ruth M. Lewis (nee Timble) a resident of Cedarburg and a former resident of South Milwaukee, passed away on December 29, 2019 at the age of 101 years. Preceded in death by her husband, Gordon. Ruth served for a number of years as vice-president and secretary of the Voice Printing Co., which published the community newspaper, the South Milwaukee Voice Journal. She later was employed as and interviewer in the Milwaukee office of the Wisconsin Job Service. Mrs. Lewis was past president of the Woman's Club of South Milwaukee, GFWC, and past member of the board of trustees of First Congregational United Church of Christ of South Milwaukee. She also had served as secretary of the South Milwaukee Historical Society. Survivors include a son, David (Katherine) Lewis; a daughter, Barbara (John) Arity; grandchildren, Sara (John) Hill and Steven (Chantelle) Lewis; nieces, Sue (Ron) Dahl, Carol (the late John) Monahan; and nephew, Paul (Laura) Lewis. A committal service is scheduled at First Congregational United Church of Christ South Milwaukee Church Cemetery (1111 N. Chicago Ave., So. Milwaukee) on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 11:00AM. Please meet inside the cemetery's main entrance. The family wishes to thank the staff of Lasata Care Center for the excellent care and support. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer's Association in Ruth's name are greatly appreciated.
