God opened his loving arms on September 9, 2024 and welcomed Richard, our Father, home at the age of 88. He passed away surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 5, 1936 to the late Alex and Cecelia Bartoshevich in Velva, North Dakota. Our Father loved his family above all else and we will always carry his memory in our hearts. He was preceded in death by his beloved late wife Jacqueline, sister Sis and brothers Alex, Gene, Fred, Lloyd, and Donald. Left to cherish his memories are his children Mark (Patty), Dawn, Cheryl, Scott, and Jill (Eduardo); Grandchildren Jeremy, Kristin (Evan), Jenny, Matt, Justin, Nathan, Shelly, Chris (Abbey), Ava and Valentina; Great Grandchild Henry; Brothers Ronald and David (Vicki); other relatives and friends. Our Father Richard served in the Korean conflict and was in the 772 Military Police Battalion Railway Security. He was a highly decorated officer and received the Purple Heart for his bravery. He was also deeply devoted to veteran groups including VFW Post 2895 and the Cudahy P.L.A.V. He received the Chapter Past Commander's Award as presented for outstanding leadership for disabled American Veterans. Our Father had an integral role in the dedication of the Cudahy War Memorial. He was a proud veteran to join the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight and was also honored as Cudahy's Veteran of the Year. He was an Alderman for the 5 th district in the City of Cudahy for many years along with serving on Finance, Rules, Laws and Licensing, Traffic and Safety, and Planning Committees of Cudahy. A visitation for Richard will be Friday, September 20, 2024 from 9:30AM - 11:00AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM, both at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 800 Marquette Avenue, South Milwaukee. Entombment at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery after Mass.
