Raymond (Ray, Rayme) D. Jamroze
Left this world to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 18th. He was born on December 21, 1931 in Milwaukee, WI. to Adam F. Jamrozy and Josephine A. Buczynski. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and two brothers, Norman and Eugene and his wife, Joyce Evelyn (Washbish). He is survived by two siblings, his sister, Gloria (Koenigs) and brother, Richard. Also surviving him are his sons, William (Bill) and Scott Warren as well as grandsons, granddaughters, nieces and nephews, and many close and dear friends including Gloria Johns and Joe and Audrey Kucharski.
Ray married Joyce in Grand Rapids, Michigan on February 2, 1952 and enjoyed their union until her passing in 2005. Together, they raised their two boys, Bill and Scott.
After Riverside High School, Ray enlisted in the U.S. Army and served three years (1950 to 1953) before receiving an honorary discharge at Camp Carson, Colorado. During his enlistment, he achieved the rank of sergeant
(E5) and served one tour of duty in Korea during the Korean War. During his enlistment, he was awarded numerous medals and commendations
including: the Korean Service Medal with two (2) bronze stars; Commendation Ribbon with Metal Pendant; and the United Nations Service Medal.
Upon his return to civilian life, Ray worked several jobs until he was hired by the American Motors assembly plant in Milwaukee as an inspector of automotive parts. After several years, he moved on to Aqua-Chem of Milwaukee as a Production Control Assistant; Computer Operator; Document Control Clerk and other clerical positions in the field of data processing and administrative management.
Later, Ray was employed by the Veterans Administration from May 1975 until his retirement in May of 1992. He was twice awarded the Department of Veterans Affairs Performance Award for "...substantially exceeding performance requirement s." He served the VA in Hines, Illinois; Wood, Wisconsin; Memphis, Tennessee; and finally, Cleveland, Ohio.
After retiring from the Veterans Administration, he and Joyce lived in South Haven, Michigan for a year before they moved back to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
His favorite activities and hobbies were: computer science/technology, music, reading, and movies. He was a life-long learner, especially in the area of science. He enjoyed training and enlisted in the Air Force Reserve and worked as a training specialist, writing and presenting curriculum for other Air Force reservists. He served faithfully for years and finally retired. He carried his expertise in training into his civilian life by joining several computer user groups and supplied training to their members on Windows and Apple operating systems.
He was an avid animal lover and spent many enjoyable hours walking and playing with his dog, Chris.
Ray will be missed dearly by his family and many loving friends.
