She was born to the late Robert and Irene Adams, October 18, 1938, in Milwaukee, WI. Rachel graduated from South Milwaukee High School in 1956 and received her Registered Nursing Diploma from Milwaukee County General Hospital School of Nursing in 1959.
She married the late Frederick Mantey in 1959. Rachel is survived by her sister and three children: Mary Ann Adams, Alan (Judith) Mantey of The Villages, FL; Allison (Andrew) Martinez of Greenfield, WI; and David (Karie) Mantey of Hartland, WI. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: Karen Baumann; Phillip (Kathryn) Martinez; Karisa (Joe) Stiglitz; Diana (Nick) Mantey-Ng; Cynthia (Brent) Young; Robert (Hannah) Mantey; Elizabeth (Wesley) Lawlor; Norah Mantey; Colette Baumann; Berkley and Bodhi Young.
Rachel worked as a Labor and Delivery Nurse at St. Francis Hospital until retirement. She also worked as a Tax Consultant for many years. Yearly, Rachel would travel to Glacier National Park with her family to camp and enjoy the outdoors. Often, she and her sister would travel to reconnect with relatives in New Hampshire, where her father was born and raised. Rachel was an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan, greatly loved eating hot dogs at all Milwaukee establishments, and cheered on the Marquette Golden Eagles. Christmas was a very special time of year for her. Rachel loved the lights, the music, all the decorations, and found pleasure in buying many gifts for her family and friends. However, her grandchildren brought her the greatest joy. She never missed an opportunity to babysit and attend their many activities. She was their greatest fan.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
A service will be held at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Cudahy, on May 16, 2025 at 2:30pm.
