Philip Ciano

August 2, 1921 — November 6, 2021

Philip A. Ciano passed peacefully into Eternal Life on November 6, 2021. He had recently celebrated his 100th birthday with family and friends. Philip was a loving husband, proud father and caring friend. Beloved husband of the late Germaine (nee Hirsch). Preceded in death by his parents, Francesco and Luisa Ciano, his brothers, Ambrose and Antonio, and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Loving father of Franklin (Shirley) Ciano, Michael (Sue) Ciano, Scott Ciano, Philip (Laurie) Ciano and Susan Ciano. Grandfather of Julie (Wes) Thompson, Andy (Heidi) Ciano, Tom Ciano, Joe Ciano, Jaclyn Ciano, Angela Ciano, Zachary (Lily) Ciano, Alex Ciano and Sydney Ciano. Great grandfather of Marley and Mia Thompson and Lucas and Isaac Ciano. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in the Hirsch Family and nephews Edward and Ambrose Ciano, in addition to other relatives and friends. The family would also like to acknowledge Philip's long-time companions, Elvita Clementi and Ruth Lloyd, who attended many concerts, operas and visits to Festa Italiana with him. Philip was born in Greci, Italy and at the age of ten traveled with his mother to this country to join his father. He grew up on the east side of Milwaukee were many Italian immigrants resided. He attended Lincoln High School and State Teachers College, where he met his wife, Germaine. Together they moved to Oak Creek where they raised five children. While working multiple jobs to support his family, Philip always found time to support and attend his children's countless academic and athletic activities. Philip lived in Oak Creek for 61 years until his recent move to Towner Crest Senior/Assisted living in Oconomowoc. He was a life-long member of St. Matthew Catholic Parish and served his community as an Oak Creek Alderman for several years. Philip was an avid music lover and played violin and clarinet. He played with the Milwaukee Catholic Symphony and more recently the South Milwaukee Municipal Band well into his 90's. For much of his career Philip was a salesman with Wisconsin Liquor Company and earned membership to the "Canadian Club Society" for his sales achievements. Philip loved to travel and was able to visit Italy, including his city of birth, with his brother, Tony. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caring staffs at Towner Crest (Oconomowoc) and Heartland Hospice Care. Visitation on Monday, November 15, 2021 at Schramka-Borgwardt Funeral Home (11030 W. Forest Home Ave., Hales Corners, WI 53130) from 10:00AM-12:00PM with funeral service at 12:00PM.
