Olga Reitzi passed away on May 7, 2024, surrounded by her family and friends in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. She was 92 years old. Born in Militinas, Croatia, Olga and her family fled to Austria in 1942 to escape war in Yugoslavia. They lived in Austria until 1949, when they emigrated to Milwaukee. In 1952, Olga met and married John Reitzi, with whom she raised three children.
Though her middle school education was cut short, she learned many languages, including Croatian, German, and English fluently and conversational Hungarian and Polish. Olga's life was devoted to caring for her family and friends and to helping others. She carried on traditions of the old world, kept in touch with far away relatives, and cooked delicious Croatian dishes throughout her life.
She is survived by her children, Ed and Maria Reitzi, Cindy Reitzi, Karen Reitzi and Greg Wolf, her cousin Tina Osiecki and close friend Kathy Mueller. She also leaves her loving grandchildren, David Michna and Stacy Marcus, Julie Reitzi and Taylor Channing, John Reitzi, Tristan Wolf, and Alessandra Wolf and her great-grandchildren, Josie Michna, Avery Channing, and Rowan Channing.
Visitation will be held from 10-11:30am on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Molthen-Bell Funeral Home, 700 Milwaukee Avenue, South Milwaukee, WI 53172 .
The family thanks the staff of Azura Assistant Living in Oak Creek for their wonderful, heart felt care this past year.
The family chose a private internment.
A mass and celebration of life will occur the first week of August.
