Mary Jones

June 3, 1927 — December 29, 2021

Mary A. "Nana" Jones, 94, of South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, died on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021 in her home surrounded by family. Mary was born June 3, 1927 in Hub City, Wisconsin to John and Mildred (Schoonover) Dixon. Mary is survived by two sons and two daughters: William L. Jones, Jr. (Judy) of Racine; Jenny Hetzel (Chuck Nitka) of South Milwaukee; John Jones of Dallas; and Betty Tousignant (Paul) of Flora, Illinois. She is further survived by eight grandchildren: Jeffrey (Tina) Jones; Shawn (Heather) Toms; Shannon Hetzel; Shane Hetzel; Randall (Bre) Jones; DeAnne (Kenneth) McLain; Tracy (Don) Decker; Meagan (Tim) Puhl; and six great-grandchildren: McKenna, Miranda and Dillon Decker; Lindsey, Lily and Anderson McLain. Special thanks to Shelly Paasch for her extra care. Mary, commonly known to all as "Nana," was a retired caregiver who fully enjoyed all of her grandchildren, 24/7. She was an avid reader who also loved classic movies, crosswords, thrift stores, sports cars, and helping raise her beloved grandchildren. Nana was a selfless woman who witnessed nearly a century of the world's changes while walking a focused path of always caring for those around her. Her love leaves more behind than death can take away. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Jones, Sr., and three brothers, Mervin "Mugs" Schoonover, Melvin "Dutch" Dixon and Roger Dixon. The family will be holding a celebration of life on Jan. 16.
