Walter, Lulin Chang Born to Eternal Life on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at the age of 95 years old. Beloved wife of the late John S. Walter. Loving mother of Jack Chang, Elizabeth (Ching-Ho) Chen, Lise (Serge) Gauthier, and Alexander D. (Noel) Walter. Proud grandmother of Steve Chen. Linda Marini, Jason Chang, Marisa Chang, the late Pearl Gauthier, Arnaud Gauthier, Joseph Walter, Samuel Walter, Bridget Walter. Also a great-grandmother of 8 great-grandchildren. Survived by one brother, several nephews and nieces. Lulin was a journalist and free lance writer in profession. She had covered international news during World War II in Kweilin, Chungking, Shanghai, Tientsin, Peijing (Beijing) on Mainland China. Then on Taiwan after 1949, the Republic of China. She wrote her stories in both English and Chinese languages for China Post (English), China Daily News (Chinese) and Hong Kong Industrial and Commercial Daily Press (Chinese). As a scholarship winner from her Hong Kong newspaper, Lulin had studied Journalism at Marquette University Post-Graduate School from 1954-1956. After marriage to John, she became a teacher at St. Sylvester Catholic School from 1965-1984. In the summer of 1967, she took one year leave of absence from St. Sylvester to go back to Taiwan with Alex as an editor and columnist with the China Post. In addition to teaching, she was active volunteer at Milwaukee cultural developments. At the International Holiday Folk Fair, she was in charge of the Chinese Cultural Exhibition from 1975 through 1989. She survived an automobile accident, then did continue her volunteer activities as a general worker. At the opening of Holiday Folk Fair 1999, she was inducted into the "Hall of Fame" (later named "Hall of Honor" along with a couple other ethnic group leaders. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 26 at the funeral home from 10 am until the time of service at noon. Interment Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.
