July 6, 1943 – July 16, 2018, age 75.
Joe was born in Ogema, Wisconsin, to parents, Lawrence and Catherine (Acker) Weinzatl. He entered the Air Force in 1962 for four years of service. His various careers spanned over 30 years. He worked the railroad in dispatch and management as "Rondout Joe". He also dabbled in real estate, was a Roadway Express truck dispatcher, and finally enjoyed self-employment as the Caledonia fencing guru. In addition to all that, he and his wife shared the hobby farm they ran for over thirty years with generations of family and friends.
Joe served on the Caledonia Conservancy Board of Directors and tirelessly worked on many CC committees for decades. He was also a very active volunteer at St. Matthews Church. As a thirty-year Oak Creek resident, he was known throughout the area as the beloved "Farmer Joe".
Loving husband of Donna Weinzatl, his wife for 21 years, beloved father to Anthony Weinzatl and treasured grandfather to Lynnette Weinzatl. Brother to siblings, Mary (Bernard) Wahl, Elizabeth (Everett) Rhyner, Andrew (Shirley) Weinzatl, Helen (Donald) Nelson, Richard (Pam) Weinzatl, Michael Weinzatl, David Weinzatl, Margaret (Leroy) Draeger.
He was preceded in death by his parents and second wife, Nyla Weinzatl. Joe always had a smile on his face and was willing to help anyone who asked. "No" was not in his vocabulary. He was dearly loved by countless friends and family and will be sorely missed.
Visitation on July 21, 2018 at St. Matthews Church (9303 South Chicago Road, Oak Creek, WI 53154) from 10 am to 1 pm with Mass to follow.
