John W. Bates passed away on August 24, 2022 at the age of 92. Beloved husband of Betty (nee Halbrooks) for 70 loving years. Loving dad of Charlotte (the late Mark) Sauer, John (Lori), David (Jill), and Teddy (Amy). Proud grandpa of Mary, Adam, Marcella, Nicholas, Kendra, Megan, Ryan, Dillon, Austin, and Dalton. Great-grandpa of Emma, Benjamin, Abigail, Judah, Eli, Thea, Dakkota, Skyler, Zander, Beau, Mia, and Bryson. Preceded in death by his siblings, Marion (Dorothy), Virginia Arrington, and Jewel (Harvey) Moore. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Visitation at Molthen-Bell Funeral Home on Saturday, August 27, 2022 from 12:00-1:00. Funeral service at the funeral home on Saturday at 1:00. Interment at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
