Joanne graduated from Rufus King High School in 1958. She worked as a secretary/bookkeeper until she became a mother. She began working at Kohls Department Store in South Milwaukee in 1978 and retired in 2000. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Oak Creek. She served in many capacities for the Women’s Guild, running the church library for many years as well as other various committees.
She was an excellent mother. She loved spending time with her family. She was devoted to all her children’s activities, and later her grandchildren’s as well. She called her grandchildren her treasures. Joanne loved to go up north, especially to her trailer in Minocqua and Cataldo’s cottage in Door County. She was a wonderful cook and baker which she taught her children and grandchildren. Her door was always open, and she enjoyed frequent visits by her children and grandchildren especially if she had made it known she had been cooking or baking. She was a frequent patron of the South Milwaukee Library. She was an avid reader and always had a good recommendation for a book. She loved to play all kinds of games and if you ever beat her at Scrabble, you should consider yourself lucky! She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Lutheran Church in Oak Creek.
