A memorial service honoring Jim's life will be held on Saturday, May 31 at Molthen Bell Funeral Home, 700 Milwaukee Ave, South Milwaukee. Visitation will be from 10 am until the time of service at 12 pm.
He is preceded in death by his mother Helen, sister Gloria and brother Nestor. He is survived by his loving wife Bonnie (Pietz), his devoted and loving daughter Carrie and his brother Joseph Karvonen. Further survived by nephews Aaron, Shawn, Ben, Andrew and nieces Angela and Amy.
He was born in Duluth, Minnesota. The family soon moved to Bessemer, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula where he developed his live of the outdoors. In winter he enjoyed skiing and in the fall it was all day hunting. He earned his spending money by working at Brown's Cafe and caddied at the local country club.
He enlisted in the Army and was a proud paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division and loved sharing his experiences. After completing his tour of duty, he moved to Cudahy where he worked at the Ladish Company until his retirement. In retirement he continued to further develop the passion for golf and his love for the outdoors.
Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be served at the South Milwaukee Knights of Columbus, 732 Badger Ave. Please come and join us.
