James Helminak

March 13, 1925 — July 9, 2015

Helminak, James A. James A. Helminak, age 90 of South Milwaukee passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on July 9, 2015. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Evelyn (nee Pfeffer) "Mouse". Devoted son of the late Michael and Sophie Helminak (nee Gromacki). Loving father of Susan (Michael) Budish, Dale (Karalee) Helminak, Sally (Stephen) Goldstein and Daniel Helminak. Cherished grandfather of Chad (Carolyn) Helminak, Troy (Gina) Helminak, Jonathan Budish, Rachel Goldstein and Matthew Goldstein. Dear brother-in-law of Nancy (the late Glenn) Pfeffer, the late Trudy (the late Richard) Hasbrouck, the late Louis (Lillian) Pfeffer, the late Norbert (the late Harriet) Pfeffer and the late Leona Pfeffer. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his dog Daisy. He was a member of the P.L.A.V., American Legion Post 27, Building Inspectors Association of Southeastern Wisconsin Region, Electrical Inspectors Association of Southeastern Wisconsin Section, Electrical Maintenance Engineers of Milwaukee, Kiwanis Club Member and Former President, Knights of Columbus, IAEI and Milwaukee Musicians Assn. – American Federation of Musicians. Jim was known by most people for being a Master Electrician/Contractor in his family's business, Service Electric in South Milwaukee started by his parents. After closing the business he became the Building and Electrical Inspector for the City of South Milwaukee. When Jim was in the Armed Forces during World War II, he was in the band that played at Andrews Air Force base that performed when the President's airplane landed or for other dignitaries. Relatives and friends will always remember Jim as being an extremely gifted and talented musician playing the saxaphone or clarinet. His singing voice was impeccable. Jim was a great lover of animals. He was especially fond of horses and dogs. Jim was a wonderful story teller with great detail. Memorials to the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music or Elmbrook Humane Society of Brookfield. Private Services were held.
