Harold L. Moats, a cherished patriarch and friend to many, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on November 6, 1929, Harold lived a life marked by love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the natural world around him.
Harold's journey began as the beloved son of Ralph Moats and Marie Sellner, brother of George Moats, Grace Petersen, Barb Cleasly and Donny Moats. His early years set the stage for a life filled with adventure and joy. Harold proudly served his country in the army, a time that instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life.
Upon returning from his service, Harold found and married the love of his life, Jean Moats. Together, they created a beautiful family, welcoming their children Vickie (David) Stefanski, Cheryl (Daniel) Stefanski, Terry Moats, Lori Moats, Dale (Mary) Moats, Lisa (Todd) Olbinski, and Kristi Moats. Harold was a devoted husband and father, always ready with a helping hand or a word of encouragement.
Harold's legacy extends to his adored grandchildren Christopher, Isaac, Jason, Courtney, Brooke, Steven, Kiana, and Samantha, Step grand children Jamie and Dean as well as his seven great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he leaves behind a tapestry of memories that will be cherished forever. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Marie, sister Faye Ehlert and his granddaughter, Nicole Shatto.
An avid lover of the outdoors, Harold found solace and wonder in nature. He could often be found taking leisurely walks through the wilderness, observing wildlife, and simply reveling in the beauty of the world around him. His passion for the outdoors extended to his hobbies, which included bowling and meticulously caring for his yard, often seen riding his mower with a sense of contentment.
Harold's hands were rarely still, as he was a man who enjoyed working with his hands. He especially enjoyed working on his cherished Buick and other cars. Harold's life was a testament to the joy that can be found in simplicity, the strength of family bonds, and the laughter that echoes in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be truly missed.
