Daniel Robert Jones, a man known for his loving nature and gentle spirit, passed away on April 6, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on February 3, 1952, Daniel led a life marked by devotion to his family, an appreciation for life's simple pleasures, and a steadfast commitment to his community.
Daniel's legacy is carried on by his beloved wife, Mary C. Jones, and their cherished children, Ryan (Lucy) and Tracy (Douglas). His joy and pride were multiplied through his grandchildren Harrison, Clyde, Grace, Cyrus, and Opal, who will carry forward his kind-heartedness and warmth. Daniel is also survived by his brothers Michael, Matthew, Phillip, Robert, and sister Therese, who together shared a lifetime of memories and unbreakable bond. He now joins his parents, Francis Sr. and Opal, and brothers Douglas, Francis, James, and Patrick, who preceded him in death.
A lifelong resident near the shores of Lake Michigan, Daniel found peace and wonder in the lake's vast beauty. He was a hard worker, dedicating himself to every task with vigor and determination. Music was another of Daniel's great loves, with the melodies of Van Morrison providing the soundtrack to many cherished family moments.
Daniel's youthful spirit was evident in his love for sports. He relished the camaraderie and competition found in rugby and wrestling, beginning at Pius XI High School, continuing at Marquette University, and with the Harlequin Rugby Club. He remained an active member of all three communities throughout his life, offering his presence and support generously.
Those who knew Daniel best would describe him as loving and kind, with great wit, frequently willing to share a joke to lift those around him. A gentle giant in both stature and spirit, Daniel's life was a tapestry of love, loyalty, and joy. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we take solace in the indelible mark he has left on our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace. There will be a visitation from 8:30 am to 10 am on May 16, 2025 at Church of the Gesu, followed by a mass. In Lieu of flowers the family would like the donations be made to Pius XI High School.
