Carl Joseph "Budd" Knauer After battling Melanoma, Carl passed away at home on June 20, 2024 surrounded by his family at the age of 75. Carl was born on June 22, 1948 to Carl and Frances Knauer. He grew up in West Allis with his older sister Pat Rygiewicz and younger sister Gail (Jim) Lowry where he attended St. Rita's grade school and Don Bosco HS. Among his favorite childhood memories are numerous canoeing trips with his friend Mike Rivest, and earning his Eagle Award. Carl briefly studied architecture and art before acquiring a BBA in Marketing and Accounting at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. After managing a clothing store, he earned his CPA which led to employment at Deloitte & Touche, followed by his position as the CFO of West Allis Memorial Hospital and his position as the VP of Financial Operations at Aurora Healthcare. On May 23,1970 he married Catherine Molthen. He was the loving father of Kessin "Jodi" and Justin (Sarah), and the proud grandfather of Kade and Caleb. Outside of the office, Carl volunteered as an EMT in Mukwonago. He loved animals and had several unusual pets including a kinkajou, chinchilla, and two racoons. He spent many hours pheasant hunting and skeet shooting with his friends Tim and Ellis, drawing, painting, and flying drones. He enjoyed vacationing on the lakes in northern Wisconsin and in Sun City Arizona. Carl is further survived by brothers- and sisters-in-law, other relatives, and friends. The family would like to give special thanks to Froedtert Hope Cancer Center for Carl's care.
