Aurie was called home to God on January 9, 2024 at the age of 102. His wish to live out his days at the home he built with his beloved wife, Emily, was fulfilled. He was preceded in death by Emily and his granddaughter, Kaitlin, with whom he had a very special bond. He was father to Robert (Pat Mather) Wiza, Mary Ann (late Jeff) Anselmino, Judith Wiza and Thomas (Jill) Wiza.
He was a dear grandpa to Michael (Nicole) Wiza, Philip (Kristin) Anselmino, Amy (John Shields) Anselmino, Lauren (Richard) Boettcher and Megan Wiza. He was the delighted "Great Grandpa in the White House" to 9 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by nieces and nephews.
Aurie served in the Navy during WWII and was stationed at Pearl Harbor. He graduated from Marquette University and had a challenging career as a mechanical engineer. He was thrilled with the season Marquette's basketball team is having and enjoyed every game. Aurie was a student of history and an avid reader. He deeply enjoyed classical music and he listened to Frank Sinatra every morning in recent years. He found joy in gardening, watching the birds, playing with his granddog, Jasper, and being "the baby whisperer" with each new great grandchild. He was a source of wisdom for all of us and taught us to value the importance of education. He will be deeply missed but we know he is at peace with God and reunited with all his loved ones. His Catholic faith was deeply important to him and memorials to Nativity of the Lord Parish would be greatly appreciated.
