Anthony Slusar

April 13, 1929 — October 2, 2015

Slusar, Anthony C. "Tony" "Deta" Tony, 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 2, 2015 at St. Luke's South Shore Hospital surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. Born April 13, 1929, the 8th child and 7th son of Anton and Elizabeth (Halambeic) Slusar. Preceded to heaven by his beloved first grandchild, Jared Costa, his parents, and other family members. Lovingly survived by, his wife, Sharron, his children, Denise (Mark) Lohr, Karla (David) Jensema, Anthony Slusar, Mark (Kim) Slusar and Bradley (Kristen) Slusar. His adoring grandchildren, Joe and Michael (Stefanie Sievert) Costa, Tara and Britta Jensema, AJ and Lauren Slusar, Haley and Tarek Slusar and his cherished great-grandson, Camden Jensema. Further survived by his brother, Frank Slusar, special nephew, John Slusar and brother-in-law, Russ Schuman, along with other nieces, nephews and friends. Tony was a lifelong resident of Cudahy, and employed there as well. Skilled as a Tinsmith, he was a dedicated employee for 42 years at the Ladish Company, he was an IAM 1862 union steward and committee man for multiple years. He retired in 1991 and enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing and meeting other retirees for breakfast and lunch. Tony enjoyed his church and community, volunteering his time for both. He proudly served in the US Army, receiving the Bronze star, the Korean Service Medal with 3 bronze service stars as well as the Army Occupation Medal with a Japan clasp. He retired in 1973, with the rank of Sergeant Major. Recently he was given the opportunity to be on an Honor Flight to DC. His daughter, Denise, was able to attend with him. Understandably, the Korean War Veterans Memorial held special meaning for him. His accomplishments were many... But, as Tony would tell anyone, his greatest and proudest achievement was the way he and Sharron raised their children. He loved when his family was all together! Memorial gathering from 3:00 p.m - 5:30 p.m., with service to follow, on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Molthen-Bell Funeral Home, 700 Milwaukee Ave., South Milwaukee, WI.
