Obituary for Wilma Faye Daharsh

Wilma Faye Daharsh, longtime resident of South Milwaukee, WI, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the age of 100. Faye, daughter of Otto and Susie Faye (Hanger) Paulus, was born September 14, 1918 in Clay County, Nebraska. Loving mother of Rita Garner and Ross (Jody) Daharsh. Cherished grandmother of Andrea (Rene) Barrios, Erin (Jake) McClelland, Betsy (Eric) Hansen, Anita (Brian) Zarletti, and 10 great-grandchildren. Further survived by other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lon Daharsh and granddaughter, Liana Daharsh

Faye graduated from high school in 1935, and attended business school in Norfork, Nebraska. She was a conscientious worker from a young age, often helping with the plowing and other chores on the family farm. Following high school graduation, she found a housekeeping job where she was paid $2.25 a week. She was later employed in a variety of jobs: working for a bank, for an accountant, for the telephone company, as a school lunch lady, and even packing pepper. She was a secretary at the South Milwaukee High School for several years.

Faye was always one to give her best, whether it was doing volunteer work, supporting friends, or spending time with family. A memorial service to celebrate Faye’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the First Congregational Church, 1111 N Chicago Ave, South Milwaukee, WI. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the caregivers at Ramsey Woods and Heartland Hospice for the compassionate kindness shown to Faye. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Faye’s name to the First Congregational Church.
