Obituary

Ronald “Ron” Michael Slamka, age 87, of Oak Creek, WI, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2020 from a tragic accident.
Ron was born November 4, 1932 in Oak Creek to Anna (Maradik) and John Slamka. He attended Scanlon School in Oak Creek, and High School in South Milwaukee, joined the Air Force and served at Truax AFB in Madison, WI. He married the love of his life, Marlene Leiser, and together they created a close and loving family. He was father to 8 children, 18 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren. He worked at Delco for 33 years as an avionics technician.

Ron was devoted to his wife, loved life, and took time to share his passions with those around him. Ron found enjoyment in gardening (he was well known for the flowers he grew and shared, his pickles, and garlic), hunting, and fishing, and golfing. Most of all he loved spending time with his wife and family.

Ron was an active member of Saint Matthews Parish in Oak Creek, a member of “Holy Name”, volunteered with many church events and was a longtime member of the American Legion. He was proud veteran of the United States Air Force, a former Boy Scout leader.

Ron is survived by his wife, Marlene Slamka, his children, Michael (Liz) of Racine, WI, John (Debby) of Racine, WI, Steve of Milwaukee, Ronald Jr (Cindy) of Gilbert, AZ, Beth Hunt (Greg) of Oak Creek, WI, David (Linda) of Forestville, WI, Mark (Vicki) of Oak Creek, and Jackie Tolson (Don) of Oak Creek WI, grandchildren, great grandchildren, his brother, Robert (Madeline) of Oak Creek, and many nieces and nephews.

We sure enjoyed visiting with Ron over the years. His knowledge for finding arrow heads has taught me how to find these treasures myself.
