Obituary for Robert Ambrose Steckbauer

Born to Eternal Life on April 29, 2022 at the age of 62. Bob grew up in Allenton, WI and attended St. Lawrence Seminary High School, UW-Washington County and UW-Oshkosh. He worked as a youth minister in Marquette, MI, St. James Mukwonago, St. Mary's and St. John's South Milwaukee and St. John Vianney Brookfield. He volunteered for a year with Covenant House in Florida. For the past 17 years he has been working for the Milwaukee County Transit System as a bus operator.

Bob was a proud recovering alcoholic of 41 years. As a youth minister Bob took many youth on service weeks out to the Pine Ridge Reservation, SD. There Bob developed a life long relationship with the Lakota people. He returned many times alone and with family to reconnect with his friends and the land. Bob was an expert embroiderer. He was often seen working on a piece from start to finish. Having more than one project going at a time was a foreign concept. Everyone who saw his work was amazed at it's beauty and precision. Bob was a master at the Dad joke and puns. You never knew when he'd come up with a zinger.

Loving husband to Eileen Ambrose Steckbauer for 27 years. Dear father to David Ambrose-Steckbauer and Maija Ambrose-Steckbauer. He is also survived by his brother William Steckbauer. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents Robert and Marilyn Steckbauer and brothers Timothy and Dale.
