Obituary for Peggy A. Zweber

Print
Age 72, of Peoria, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 18, 2018. She was born December 31, 1945 in Milwaukee to Dorothy and August Pabian. She married Martin P. Zweber on May 23, 1986. He preceded her in death on October 15, 1998.

Surviving are her loving brothers, Fred (Louise) Pabian of Milwaukee and Jim Pabian of Spring Green, Wisconsin, nephews Steven (Ann) Pabian and Gary Pabian, and Gary’s children (Griffin, Genesa, Gabriella, and Garrick). Beloved sister-in-law of Rae Zweber, Joan Zweber, Dirk (Maribeth) Zweber, and Gerri Maria Zweber, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Peggy was a 1964 graduate of West Bend High School in Wisconsin. Peggy graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Peggy thrived during her lengthy career at the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, with a post in Denver before rising to become Area Director of the Peoria District responsible for OSHA programs in over 80 Illinois counties.

Peggy had a tremendous passion for her dogs, and also for her cats and horses. Her dogs Copper, Raton, Nikki (the "Little Dog That Could"), Charly ("Red Charles of Carriage Lane") each brought her everlasting joy over the years. Cate, Indy, Luke (a Berger Picard breed named in homage to Jean-Luc Picard of Star Trek fame), and Nick survive Peggy and each has been placed in a new home.

Peggy (and her dogs) were proud and active members of the Peoria Obedience Training Club, the Dog Scouts of America, and the North American Dog Agility Council, among other groups. Her dogs Nikki and Charlie were certified therapy dogs, and Peggy took them to visit nursing homes and school children. She was a supporter of Friends of Strays, Peoria Humane Society, and T.R.A.I.N. (Team Rescuing Animals in Need), and North American Diving Dogs. Her dogs Charlie and Nikki competed in dock diving and agility events throughout the Midwest. Thank you to Carol and Kevin Krosse and their daughter, Natalie Heppard, for their lifelong love and support of Peggy and her animals, and the countless other friends and caregivers who assisted Peggy during the last years of her life.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, please donate to the Peoria Humane Society, the Peoria Obedience Training Club, or T.R.A.I.N. in the memory of Peggy.
