Obituary for Nancy B. Johnson (Bullard)

Johnson, Nancy B. (nee Bullard) passed away after her courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on August 3, 2019, surrounded by family, at the age of 76. Beloved wife of Robert for 55 years. Loving mother of Michelle, Scott (Tina), and Jay (Whitney). Proud grandmother of Chloe, Hailey, Lucas, Alaina, Maston, and Anders. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Jill.

Nancy was a dedicated grade school teacher, who continued to volunteer at schools long into retirement. She volunteered in the classrooms of each of her grandchildren, including while visiting her grandchildren in Florida. Nancy’s dedication to children extended to attending her grandchildren’s extracurricular activities at every opportunity she had.
Nancy was also involved in a number of clubs for many years. She has been an active member of the Thursday Grant Park Women’s Golf Club for over 45 years. Nancy’s mother was pregnant with Nancy while a member of the club, making it almost like Nancy was a member her whole life. During her time in the Golf Club, Nancy held the position of President, Vice President and Chair of the June Point Tournament.

Another passion of Nancy’s was her Bridge Club. The members of the Club met monthly for over 30 years. Nancy was still playing cards with members of the club up until a week ago. Nancy was also a member of a Book Club that met regularly. She was a member of that club for over 30 years as well.

Nancy and Bob enjoyed traveling, visiting many of the National Parks across the country. They took their children on a tour through the middle of the country hitting the St. Louis Arch, Rocky Mountain National Park, Mount Rushmore and the Badlands National Park. In recent years, they traveled out to California stopping at Arches, Bryce and Zion National Parks. They also became snow birds in their retirement, visiting Florida for February and March most years. And they never passed up the opportunity to stop at a casino.

Visitation will be held at the First Congregational United Church of Christ South Milwaukee (1111 N. Chicago Ave, S. Milwaukee), where Bob and Nancy have been members since 1966, on Thursday from 4:00pm-6:00pm. Memorial service at church on Thursday at 6:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Nancy's name to the St. Luke's Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic are greatly appreciated.
