Obituary for Maureen Margaret Stolpa (Zimmerman)
Maureen M Stolpa (nee Zimmerman), passed away peacefully on April 26, 2020, with her beloved rosary in her hand.
Maureen (Reenie) was born on August 6, 1938, in South Milwaukee to Helen (Pfeffer) and Arthur Zimmerman. She was married to Donald J Stolpa for 62 years. Together they raised five children, Jeffery (Marie) Stolpa of Brookfield, WI; Barbara (Chad) Hinsenkamp of New Berlin, WI; Sheryl (Thomas) Gates of Schertz, TX; Michael (Janine) Stolpa of Hartland, WI; Sandra (David) Hippensteel of Las Vegas, NV.
Grandmother (Mema) to 13 grandchildren, Joshua (Jessica) Hinsenkamp; Jaime (Kollin) Koralewski; Jacob (Lauren) Hinsenkamp; Jared (Fiance’ Kimberlee Weimann) Hinsenkamp; Christopher (Elizabeth Merriman) Hippensteel; Stephanie Hippensteel (Fiance’, Nick Darrow); Stephen (Lauren) Gates; Ryan (Sarah) Gates; Kyle (Wade McKinney) Gates; Jordan Simel-Gray Graham; Collin Stolpa; Maggie Stolpa; Rebeccah Stolpa and 13 great grandchildren.
Reenie spent the early years of her marriage being a fulltime mom and doing what moms do best while raising their five children. She even took on a part time job so she could save enough money to take them all to Disney World in 1975.
Reenie and Don moved to Louisiana in 1979 to enjoy a warmer climate. While in Louisiana, Reenie worked for Pepsi Cola and a local bank. After retiring, she and Don set out to see the great United States. They spent the next 9 years living out of their motorhome seeing all 48 of the lower states. They even found time to travel a few times to Europe. Reenie and Don then settled down in Florida for a number of years before moving back to Wisconsin to be with some of their children and grandchildren.
Reenie had a deep Catholic faith and was a daily communicant. She prayed the rosary daily, and sometimes again while Don was driving the motorhome in heavy traffic.
Reenie was active in the South Milwaukee Jaycettes. After moving to Florida, Reenie joined the Red Hat Society. Reenie and Don were also members of the Cruisin Cajuns RV Club and traveled with the group where they met some great friends.
She was known throughout her community as the ring lady, or dog lady. She at one time wore 80 rings! She loved her dogs and would dress them up for their daily walks. She would parade them through the hallways and around the block. She loved that it brought joy to all the people along the way.
Reenie was preceded in death 20 days earlier by her loving husband, Don, her parents, and her brother Gary.
A special thank you to the staff at Clifden Court, St Croix Hospice Care, and the staff at West Allis Memorial Hospital for the care they gave Reenie in her final days.
