Obituary for Margaret M. "Peggy" Moen
(nee Fitzgerald) of South Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Born on April 17, 1935 and Born to Eternal Life November 10th, 2020 at the age of 85 years.
Beloved wife of the late James E. Moen. Loving mother to Nadine (Michael) Hill, Mark (Theresa) Moen, John (Lisa) Moen, Maureen “Sis” (Todd) Ulrikson and Kenneth (Carolyn McNeil) Moen.
Cherished Grandmother (Greema) to Andew (Katie Eiring), Evan (Abby Born) and Paul (Jess Fieweger) Hill; Perry (Sandy), Madeline and Claudia Moen; Leslie (Alan Halverson), Josh and Lindsay Moen; Kurt (Marisa Muhoenon), Annie (JD) Tippin, Sean (Jeni) Ulrikson; and Adela McNeil.
Treasured Great-grandmother to Levi, Penelope and Elliott Moen, Juniper Ulrikson, and arriving soon, Everett James Moen.
Peggy is also survived by her sisters Patricia (Bud) Wold and Barbara (late Mike) Carey, her brother-in-law Cletus (late sister Cecelia) Campbell, sister-in-law Gail (late John Michael) Fitzgerald, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is further survived by members of the “Devils Lake Luebner Family.”
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Cecelia (O’Brien) Fitzgerald; sister, Cecelia Campbell and brother, John Michael Fitzgerald; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Delores and Walter Brannan; and nephew, Dennis Wold.
Visitation will be on Saturday, November 14th at Divine Mercy Parish (800 Marquette Ave, South Milwaukee) from 9:00am - 10:45am with a funeral Mass at 11:00am, Father Bob Betz presiding. Internment and “Celebration of Life” gathering to be held in the summer of 2021.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Divine Mercy Parish in South Milwaukee are appreciated. The service will be live-streamed via the Molthen-Bell Facebook page starting just before 11 AM on Saturday, November 14. .

For Peggy, family was the most valued treasure in her life….closely followed by friends, neighbors and “fellow partners in crime”, you know who you are! Each child, grand-child and great-grandchild held a special place in her heart where she stored precious memories of antics and special moments tied to each loved one.
She took special delight in hosting annual family & friends gatherings around the Holiday’s, the Moen Family Wilderness Weekends, as Co-Host of the Annual Labor Day Devil’s Lake Luebner Campout for over 40 years, summer camping in Solon Springs (aka: Lucius Luebner), Superior East High School Class of 1953 Reunions, and on and on….
Grandma spaghetti and meatballs was always a staple of every event...regardless of the occasion. She championed every child's dream breakfast…..of ice-cream cones as a well-rounded meal: Dairy, sugar and cereal.
We continually marveled at her uncanny ability to key in on an individual's unique attributes and assign an appropriate nic-name highlighting same. When assigned a nic-name…..it was carried on with pride and followed you throughout your lifetime….whether you wanted it to or not!!
Peggy was known for singing out a childhood song or catchy jingle, promptly followed by an appropriately silly joke to match any and all occasions.
Her days revolved around time with friends and her church and were filled to the brim with activities ranging from water aerobics, luncheons, bike rides on her “trike”, card club, swimming at Grandma’s pool (Parkway Pool), tourist trips with her “Vagabond Club” and support of local community events and projects.
Peggy grew-up in South Range and later moved to Superior, Wisconsin along with her 3 older sisters and younger brother. She was a 1953 graduate from Superior East High School and graduated from St. Scholastica College of Nursing in Duluth, Minnesota in 1957. A long and stellar career in nursing and teaching inspired many to follow in her footsteps.
She married her high school sweetheart, James Everett Moen, on February 15th, 1958 and they remained happily married until Jim’s death in 2000. Five healthy children quickly followed and their lives immediately moved into fast forward.
Whether she was known to you as…. Mom, Grandma, Greema, Great-grandma, Aunty Peg, Panty Egg, or Peggy she has left us all with a lifetime of memories that will be carried on in our hearts and forever cherished.
