Judith Ann Zellmer (Ryan)

Judith passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020. Judy was born in Milwaukee on December 7, 1940 to Henry and Lilah Ryan. The third of five children.

Judy graduated from Pulaski High School in 1960, there she met her loving husband of 60 years, Roland Zellmer. They were married July 2, 1960. Roland and Judy raised their 4 children in South Milwaukee before moving to Burlington in 1989. Judy worked over the years in health care administration.

Judy loved working in her garden, no weed ever stood a chance, sometimes she was even caught weeding in the park, or other people’s yards. She enjoyed spending time at the cottage, concerts in the park, working on her 1000 piece puzzles, going to “the show” and dinner at her favorite restaurants. The best times were those she spent with her grandchildren. “Nana” taught all the kids to bake, sharing her recipe for her famous apple pie. There were also knitting and sewing classes for the kids… we’re not sure anyone received a passing grade. She could bait a hook or whip up a quick fort if the occasion called for it. She was never afraid to get dirty or look ridiculous if it made her grandkids smile.

Judy is survived by her husband Roland, children Gary (Brenda) Zellmer, Mark (Pam) Zellmer, Kelly (Scott) Schoenike and Kimberly Ennis. Grandchildren Abigail (Nathan) Kampf, Ryan (Allie) Schoenike, James Zellmer, Tyler Schoenike, Brett Schoenike and Katherine Ennis. Great Grandchildren Jack and Wesley Kampf. Brother Michael (Ruth) Ryan and Sister in law Beverly Ryan. Nieces and nephews Michelle Rawski, Michael Bremmer, Cheryl (Larry) Gadzalinski, Jody Jolly, Jennifer Rupcich, Allison (John) Loosen, Dawn Ryan and David Ryan.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Lilah, brother Ronald Ryan, sisters Patricia Urbanski and Mary Braithwaite, daughter in law Pamela Zellmer and nieces Pamela Bremmer and Julie Kay Bremmer.

We will remember her laugh, that smile, her sharp sense of humor, her caring heart, and her wonderful cooking. She was always there to give a kind word or a playful slap, because sometimes “you needed that”.

So, we say goodbye to our wife, mother, sister, auntie Judy and Nana. She will be missed every day.
