Obituary for Josephine Sluka

Josephine "Josie" Sluka

(nee Zaduban) Josie was born on December 30, 1925 in Czechoslovakia, and went home with the angels on February 19, 2023. During her lifetime, she resided in three countries; Czechoslovakia, Canada and the United States. She was married to John Sluka in 1949 until his passing in 2008; and together, they raised three children. She retired from the South Milwaukee Kohl's Department in about 1991 as one of the "originals". She was always very proud of that. Josie enjoyed traveling, reading, movies and eating out. Her biggest love, however, was spending time with her family. She was a loving and generous soul to all who knew her, especially her family.

She is leaving behind three children; Linda Lohman, Sharon Girard and Jim (Pam) Sluka. Grandchildren Clint (Kim) Girard, Shawn Girard and Brad (Angie) Girard, Andrea Becerra (ex-husband and friend Dan) and Ryan Lohman, and Danielle Sluka, Brian (Meagan) Sluka and Brent Sluka. Great-grandchildren McKenzie and Madison Girard, Hayley Girard, Connor and Cameron Becerra, Jayden Girard, and Willow and Kaia Sluka. She is also leaving behind her dear niece, Nancy Narloch, as well as dear friends; Virginia and Ann Esselman, as well as Ruth Lamb. She will be greatly missed by all.

Visitation at the funeral home on Friday, February 24 from 10 am to 12 pm with a service at noon. Entombment Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Sandhya Sureddi, who was Josie's wonderful PMD for the last several years as well as the compassionate and caring staff at St. Luke's South Shore and Accent Care Hospice.
