Joseph S. Lengyel Jr
November 16, 1927-December 12, 2021
Grandpa Joe has been so many things in his life. He's been a soldier, who chose to serve in WWII. He's been a Golden Gloves boxing contender who trained hard. He drove a 18 wheeler for Midwest Transfer, all over delivering supplies. He was a machinist, who worked at Ladish for 37+ years, working in sweltering hot conditions. He was the Grand Marshall of the Franklin 4th of July parade in 2018, honoring his service in the Army. He was honored as well to be on the Honor Flight, an absolutely amazing and memorable experience.
What he was most proud of, was being a husband, father, grandfather and great grandpa. He was married to the love of his life, Rosemary, whom he met at Molthen-Bell Funeral Home in 1951. That day changed his life forever. It is fitting that their story conclude here as well. They were married over 58+ years, until she passed away in June 2009, with my grandpa right by her side. Rosemary was very sick for many years, going back and forth from the rehab centers, ER and the ICU. Not one single day went by that he was not by her side.
He loved going to Brewer games with his son, Mike and granddaughter, Jamie. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, camping, watching the Packers and working on cars.
Grandpa always put others first, his country, his wife, his 5 children, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. We are, and will always be, extremely grateful for everything he has done.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary (Morafcik), his daughter, Sandra Wrubleski, mother, Susan, and father Joseph.
Survived by his daughter Linda(Jesse), daughter Susan, Son Michael (Debbie), son James, grandchildren, Michelle, Amy, Casey, Jason, Nikki, Jason, Jamie, Angie and Morgan. Great grandchildren Colton, Devin, Hayden, Emmalin, Audrey, Charley and Weston.
We'd like to thank Ascension Franklin ICU, for their care, kindness and compassion they gave grandpa Joe!
