Obituary for John Singleton

John Herbert Singleton of Cudahy, WI passed away peacefully in his home, on January 16th, at the age of 81, with his children and Ann Marie by his side. Survived by the love of his life for 29 years, Ann Marie Singleton. Dear father to Dawn Gustowski (fiancé Claude Ferguson), Brian (Stephanie) Singleton and Tricia (Joseph) Breznik. Loving grandpa to Bradley, Hayley (Nicholas), Matthew, Joe Jo (Sierra), Jordan, Alexis and Adam. Great-grandpa to Mackenzie, Skylar and Willow. Further survived by his sister Margie, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents George C. and Loretta (nee Givens); siblings, Geraldine "Gerri", Best Friend George and Robert Singleton.

John was born on August 8, 1942 to George C and Loretta (nee Givens) Singleton, in Milwaukee, WI. John attended Boys Technical High School in Milwaukee. After school, he joined the United States Army. John proudly served for three years. He was stationed at the Schofield Barracks Army Base in Oahu, HI.  He was Honorably discharged in 1964 as PFC E-3 (P).

John returned home and shortly after, he met Ann Marie. They married in 1965. Over the years, they had three children, Dawn, Brian and Tricia.  John enjoyed traveling and would pack the family in the car for vacations throughout the United States. John was a proud “blue collar” worker in manufacturing and painting industries. He worked for Perfex for 18 years and Rexnord for 22 years.  He also painted interior and exterior houses on the side.

The family would like to thank Dr Nancy Nguyen, MD and her incredible staff at Ascension Medical Group, who took excellent care of John over the years; the nurses/assistants, respiratory therapists on the third floor at Ascension Medical Center, Franklin; the hospice nurses at Accent Care Hospice for their compassion and Caring Senior Service, especially Jackie and Lekisha.

John’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, January 27th with visitation 10AM-12PM at Molthen Bell Funeral Home, 700 Milwaukee Ave, South Milwaukee. Service to follow at 12PM.
