Obituary for Jerry Jay Trapp

SFC Jerry Jay Trapp, U.S. Army, Ret, age 67, of Gulfport, passed away on April 21, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Trapp; his mother, Lucille Trapp; a brother, James Trapp; a sister, Julianne; and a sister-in-law, Lori Trapp.

Mr. Trapp is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Mary Trapp; his children, Robert Trapp (Melissa), Dennis Trapp (Cammie), and Rose Schilcher (Marty); his siblings, Richard Trapp (Sheila), Judy Balko (Jeff), Gene Trapp, Laura Wagner (Wayne), and Larry Trapp (Jeanine); 8 grandchildren, Shalimar Trapp, Sunshine Trapp, Schuyler Trapp, Robert Trapp, Jr, Luke Trapp, Lucy Schilcher, Marty Schilcher, and Oliver Schilcher; 1 great-grandchild, Charlotte Lee; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was a native of South Milwaukee, WI and was a current resident of Gulfport. He served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1972 – 1992 and retired with the rank of Sergeant First Class. Following his military career, he later retired from the U.S. Postal Service with 23 years of faithful service. Jerry enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, watching the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers, and being with his family. He was of the Lutheran faith and was a member of HOG – Milwaukee and Slidell chapters.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 7th from 11:00-1:00 at Molthen-Bell Funeral Home. Funeral service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1:00. Interment at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
