Passed away at the age of 92 on August 26, 2018. Born on February 5, 1926 in Town of Lake (Bayview), WI. Jim was proceeded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Gladys Joyce, (nee Messal), sisters Eileen (Sol) Karan, and Dorothy (Edward) Herro. Cherished father of Barbara (Mark) Unrath and James Brian Moroney. Proud Grandpa of Kelly Unrath (Jon Maass), Brian (Samantha) Unrath and Laura Krenke. Great grandpa of Charlotte Unrath, and Cameron, Jacob, and Noah Shelton.

Jim attended Bayview High School and enlisted, trained and served as a radio/radar specialist in the Army Air Corps. Upon completion of his military service, Jim returned to Town of Lake, and met the love of his life Gladys Messal of Bayview, WI and were married on August 20th, 1949. Jim and Gladys settled in St. Francis when Jim joined AC Sparkplug Division of General Motors in 1953 as a supervisor in the Gyroscope Laboratory and progressed into other technical, liason and scheduling positions supporting defense guidance systems and Mercury, Gemini and Apollo manned space missions. After AC SparkPlug Jim also worked for the Allis-Chalmers Corporation and then Excalibur which he especially enjoyed.

Jim was a very special and proud father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially north woods vacations. Special interests included fishing with mom, reading World War II history, discussing anything plane, trains and automobiles, and rooting for his favorite NASCAR/Indycar drivers. He always encouraged his children and grandchildren to pursue their interests and dreams and took pride in their accomplishments. Family and friends remember how Jim would always find time to sit and talk with them. Family dogs were dear to Dad.
