Obituary for Hazel J. Slosarek

Hazel peacefully left this world September 13, 2022, at age 88 but left behind a legacy of love, kindness, generosity, and cookies. Born Oct. 22, 1933, to Richard and Mary Deprey in Two Rivers, WI, Hazel in 1954 moved to South Milwaukee, where she met her husband, Eugene, who preceded her in death in 2021. Hazel spent her next 68 years giving her happy heart to others.

Without a selfish bone in her body and a magnetic, friendly personality full of laughter, Hazel made a point to get to know everyone she could through active listening and accepting them for who they were while encouraging them through any struggles. She also showered them with mailed gifts and cards (loaded with stickers), hand-written letters, and, of course, endless batches of cookies -- made in her still-operational 1957 oven, no less. Through her kind heart, warm nature, and sunny disposition, she made fast friends with anyone she met: classmates and friends of her children and grandchildren, neighbors, teachers, repairmen, nurses, doctors, bankers, musicians, artists, restaurant servers, TV personalities, and many others.

Hazel treasured her children Karen (Dan) Wisowaty, Steve (Cara) Slosarek, and Theresa Morrison, and her beloved grandchildren Kayla and Eric Wisowaty, Brett Slosarek, and Brian Morrison. "Thanks for the Memories," our precious Mom and Grandma; we will carry those memories with us forever. Hazel was always fascinated by the shapes of clouds; now she can enjoy them from above.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at Molthen-Bell Funeral Home, 700 Milwaukee Ave., South Milwaukee, WI, followed by the service at Molthen-Bell at 10:45 a.m. An urn burial will be at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, 3800 E. College Ave., Cudahy, WI.
