Passed away peacefully on February 4, 2021 at the age of 93. Loving husband to RoseMary (nee Chovanec). Beloved father to Gerard and Anne Macek (Patricia Frausto). Preceded in death by his siblings; Francis Macek, Mary Machu, John Macek of the Czech Republic and Anges Gargulak, Cudahy, WI. He is survived by his sister Anna Plachinski and many nieces and nephews in the Czech Republic and in the United States. Further survived by many co-workers and colleagues, who he worked with throughout the years.
Frank was born in Cudahy, WI in December, 1927. His father brought the family back to relocate in Czechoslovakia early 1930's. After a time, his father returned to the United States to find a work and a home for the family. Unfortunately, WWII broke out and the family was split, unable to follow their father. During the war years, Frank endured many hardships (brutality of war, hunger and the loss of his mother at the age of 14.) After the war, Frank came back to Cudahy to live and he worked hard to help his family in Czechoslovakia.
Frank married RoseMary Chovanec in January, 1950 and they just celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. Frank had two children Gerard and Anne.
Since Frank was born a US citizen, he was drafted into the US Army in July 1948 during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge in June, 1952, he used the GI Bill to earn a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration at Marquette University and later he obtained his certification as a Certified Public Accountant. Frank worked over 30 years at Harnischfeger Corporation (P&H) in finance and then at Scribner, Cohen and Company. He started as an accountant and worked his way up to Chief Financial Officer and then Assistant Vice President. After he worked at Scribner, Cohen and Company for several years.
Frank was a trustee at St. Joseph's Church in Cudahy; worked on financial books for many years for the Milwaukee Local Machinist Union; help anyone that needed help with their taxes. Frank would always lend a hand to anyone that needed help and he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Czech Catholic Union.
Visitation at Divine Mercy Parish (800 Marquette Ave, South Milwaukee) on Thursday, February 11 from 9:30 to 11 AM with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Interment Holy Sepulcher Cemetery (family only).
