Obituary for Florence Skorupski (Lewandowski)

On April 16th, 2022 (Holy Saturday), Mrs. Florence Skorupski, age 100, was escorted to Heaven by the Angels and was reunited with her Beloved Husband John and her son Michael. She passed peacefully after a brief illness. She leaves behind her loving son David, Grand daughter Ann, Grand Son Anthony, as well as many Nieces, Nephews, and Friends who love and care about her. She is preceded by death by her Husband John (they were married for 76 years), her son Michael (Debra), her Brother Thomas (Helen) Lewandowski, her Sister Phyllis (John) Halboth, and her Sister Virginia (Ed) Cavanaugh.

Florence experienced many events during her long life. She was born during the Roaring 20's; lived through the Depression and WWII; She graduated from Business School and worked for Aetna Insurance Company while waiting 7 years for her 'Sweetheart' John, to finish his time in the Navy. Once John came back from the Pacific they married in 1946. They raised their family in South Milwaukee, WI and never looked back. Florence also lived through the Korean and Vietnam Wars; the USA Landing on the Moon; the 70's and it's terrible Recession; the fall of the Berlin Wall; the Digital Age & Computers; 911; the Globalization of the World; many Political changes and upheavals in the USA and around the Word. Most unfortunately, she also witnessed the early death of her eldest son, Michael, who suffered from Leukemia. Florence & John helped their daughter-in-law, Debra, with maintaining a nice home for her & the Grand Children.

We would also like to give our thanks and appreciation to All the staff of the Franciscan Gardens who tirelessly gave Florence Exceptional Care for so many years. We'd especially like to thank Eva, Josie, Tina, Rad, and Wanda, as well as those on all shifts and so many others. Florence was full of Gratitude and Love for all of you and for the TLC you gave to her. She thought of all of you as part of her Family.

Florence's service will be held at the Franciscan Garden's Chapel, 1000 Williams Ave, South Milwaukee at 10 AM on June 17, 2022. Afterwards there will be a Committal Service at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery on College Ave in South Milwaukee. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to 'Josie' the Franciscan Gardens Activity Director. Florence loved to participate in daily exercise, Bingo, Yoga, Crafts, Parties, Music and Trips. She greatly appreciated Josie's energy and creativeness in designing interesting and exciting activities for all. She believed they kept her Mind, Body, and Spirit in a Fit & Joyful State, and She was Correct!
