Obituary for Eugene "Gene" Palubicki

Eugene Palubicki “Whoop”, 99, passed away peacefully Friday, December 31, 2021, at Aurora Zilber Family Hospice. He was born in Milwaukee, WI on June 17, 1922, son of the late Frank and Sarah (nee: Krzoske) Palubicki and grew up in Pelican Lake, WI. In 1954, he was united in marriage to Josephine Palubicki, who preceded him in death in 2011. On August 31, 2012, he was united in marriage to Joan Palubicki.

Gene was a Veteran of WWII, serving in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946. His service included overseas service from 1944 to 1946 in the South Pacific Theater, 5th Fleet, Task Force 58. He was awarded many medals for his service. Gene retired, after thirty years’ service, from International Harvester Co. where he was a Certified Diesel Engine Analyst Dynamometer Operator. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as Commander for Post 2895 of Cudahy. He was a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans, Cudahy Post 26; member of the Post Color Guard and served as 1st Vice Commander and State Department Sergeant at Arms. Gene was awarded the key to the city of St Francis in 2019. Gene also was a member of the Cudahy War Memorial Committee, Cudahy Coalition of Civic Organizations and the Cudahy Allied Veterans Council. He was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, St. Francis, WI for over 65 years and served as an usher for 60 years.

Survivors include his wife Joan; his cousin Johnny; his nieces and nephews and their families David Palubicki, Gary, Carol and Lauria Palubicki, Barbara Palubiski (Dick Genthy), Rory, Samara, Brendan and Jaden Palubiski, Scott, Kristal, Brady, Breannah, Jackson, Lili and Olive Palubiski, Jimmy, Brenda, Maddie and Daniel Palubicki, Jill, John, Megan and Dylan Geske, Michael Thate, Jane Clements, Karen, Mike, Amanda, Becky and Kayla Stolz, Debbie, Roger, and Josh Bruening, Steve, Debbie, Ryan (Kelly) and Kyle Stott; his goddaughter, Mary Stanuch; his children and grandchildren Chris, Shannon, Keegan and Peyton Schuster, Robert and Natalie Schuster, Abbey (Ephraim Jones), Logan, Kimani and Miles Holland, Jessica, Dan and Ruby Sadler, Elizabeth Schuster; his brother-in-law Cory Cartwright; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents and his wife, Josephine, he was preceded in death by his brothers Daniel Palubicki, Phil Palubicki, and Norman Palubiski; his nephew Alan Palubicki and his nephew’s wife Janice Palubicki; his niece Christine Thate; and sister-in-law Mary Kaminski and her husband Erwin Kaminski.

Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday January 11, 2022 from 9:45AM to 10:45. Eulogy at 10:45 AM with A Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at Sacred of Jesus Catholic Church Burial to follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.

Gene’s family wishes to extend special thanks to St. Croix Hospice, especially Shawnie; Aurora Zilber Family Hospice; Mario and Amy Rodriguez; Tom from Tiprint; and Josh Hader from the Milwaukee Brewers. Josh’s promise to arrange for Gene to throw out the first pitch when he reached his 100th birthday was always a goal and kept Gene going in recent days.
