Obituary for Esther Margaret Holtz (Price)

Esther Margaret Holtz (nee Price)

Born 17 February 1931 to Haddie (nee Jacoby) and William Price passed away peacefully on April 12, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Preceded in death by her husband James “Jim” Frank Holtz in 1990, brothers Harold (Helen), Eugene (Doris), and Thomas Price. Survive by siblings Lois (Wayne) Kaiser and David (Mary) Price, sister-in-law Vera Price, and children David (Donna), Dale (Laura), and Debbie (Patrick) Costello. Grandchildren Heather (Justin) Balich, Bryan (Jennifer) Holtz, Theresa (Kris) Gately, and Daniel Holtz. Great-grandchildren Jeremy, Dylan, and Joselyn Holtz, Penny Balich, Stellar, Kasey, and Ellis Gately. Godchildren Pam Duewell and Bill Price and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Brenda Batom, her home health care aid for the care she has provided over the last couple of years. Thanks to the doctors and nurses at St. Luke’s South Shore and a special thank you to the staff of Zilber Family Hospice for their loving care in her final days.

Esther worked at Sears for 35 years retiring from the Packard Plaza Store. She then worked at Interstate Erecting for 12 1/2 years before finally retiring from the work force. She enjoyed writing 100s of cards and letters to many friends from all over the states and abroad. Esther enjoyed working in the yard planting flowers, baking, and making wooden yard decorations. Her home in South Milwaukee won numerous awards for best decorations. Every one of her friends were very important to her and made her the person she was. She enjoyed her lunches with the “Sears Girls,” Pam, Ellie, Audrey, Rose, Dorothy, Reggie, Pat, and Gerri. Esther sends a special Thank You to Mike Polchopek for always encouraging her, to Kathy Plachinski for calling to check on her every day; to Mike Knoll and David Feare for continued prayers.

Esther was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church since 1952 when she married James at Ft. Chaffee in Van Buren Arkansas.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church (900 Michigan Ave., So. Milwaukee, WI 53172) from 10:00AM-12:00PM. Funeral Service at church on Saturday at 12:00PM. Entombment at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
