Obituary for Barbara J Franco
Took the Lord’s hand on Friday, January 27, 2023 at the age of 84. Beloved wife of the late Enrico “Rico” Franco. Mother to Robert Franco. Grandmother to Alissa (Tim). Loving “Gigi” to Sloan. Sister to Richard (JoAnne) and Michael (Kathy). Aunt to Lindsey (Cece) and Dawn. Daughter of the late Arthur and Lena Haralson. Niece of the late Geno “Uncle Gene” Cailotto.
Barbara had many hobbies including gardening, crocheting, reading, baking, golfing, and bowling. For many years, Barbara enjoyed bowling in leagues with her husband, uncle, and friends at AMF and Classic Lanes. Her guilty pleasure consisted of trips to the casino and trying her luck at the slot machines. Barbara shared many memories with her family up north at “camp”, where she was unconscious at rolling Yahtzee’s. Quality time with her family is what meant the most to her. She took great pride in being a Great Grandmother, “Gigi” and made sure everyone knew it. Barbara was strong willed, sharp as a tack, and had the biggest heart. She was the matriarch of her family, and she will be greatly missed. Special thanks to the St. Luke’s ICU team for taking such great care of Barbara during her final days. A visitation will be held on Monday, February 27, 2023, at St. Veronica’s Church (353 E Norwich Ave) from 10-11 AM with a memorial Mass at 11am. Private internment on February 28, 2023.
