Obituary for Archie Dadian

Archie (Hachig) Dadian, age 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 23, 2022, after a 2-year battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Shirley, loving father of Laurie, Lisa (Bryan) Boyadjian, Lyle (Nicole), and Larry (Tanya). Archie was blessed with eight grandchildren Jordan, Nicholas, Victoria, Luc, Leo, Sammy, Talia, and Jack, whom he adored. He will be missed by brothers Onnig (Bessie), Paul (Sally), and his sister Genie, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

Archie was born August 1, 1933 in South Milwaukee, WI to the late Nazar and Chamie Dadian, both Armenian Genocide survivors. He was a lifelong member of the Armenian Church and passed on his love for the Church and heritage to his children and grandchildren. Archie served in the United States Navy and Marine Corps, as a medic and a member of the All-Marine Corps golf team. Archie and Shirley were wed on May 31, 1958, at Soorp Haroutune Armenian Apostolic Church.

In 1964 Archie joined the PGA tour. Due to an injury he was reinstated as an amateur. Archie was the WI State Amateur Champion in 1963 and 1974; named the National Public Links "Player of the Decade" for the 1970s, and was inducted into the Wisconsin State Golf Association Hall of Fame in 1980.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Froedtert Cancer Center and Horizon Hospice. Visitation at St. John the Baptist Armenian Orthodox Church (7825 West Layton Ave, Greenfield, WI 53220) on Tuesday September 27, 2022, from 5:00 to 8:00pm with a Prayer Service (Dan Karq) starting at 7:00pm. Funeral Service at St. John the Baptist Armenian Orthodox Church on Wednesday September 28, 2022 at 10:30 am. Burial Service at Highland Memorial Park (14875 West Greenfield Ave., New Berlin WI 53151) following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John the Baptist Orthodox Armenian Church.
