Obituary for Alvin F Loeffler

Passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 11, 2017 at the age of 95. Preceded in death by his sisters Ruth Mielke, Grace Thiede and Jean Lowe. Survived by his wife of 69 years, Irma Wiegel Loeffler. Beloved father to Bonnie (Ray) McMahan, Lorraine (Brian) Sorrick, Karen Loeffler, Jean (Bill) Drilias, Nancy (Duane Pickel) Loeffler and Mary (Tom) Ballinger. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Alvin graduated from UW-Madison with Bachelor Degrees in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. He served in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946, has lived in South Milwaukee since 1948 and had a lifelong career at Kyle/McGraw-Edison. He was a very active member of St. Mary's/Divine Mercy Catholic Community which included singing in the choir for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Lions Club and was awarded the Life Membership, Birch-Sturm Fellowship, and the Lions Club highest honor, the Melvin Jones Award. Alvin also served as treasurer with St. Vincent de Paul. The family wishes to thank Heartland Hospice and Amada Senior Care for their wonderful care and support.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 15 at Divine Mercy Catholic Church (800 Marquette Ave, South Milwaukee) from 9 to 11 AM with Mass to follow at 11 AM. Interment Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and memorials, please offer your support to Divine Mercy, St. Vincent de Paul or South Milwaukee Human Concerns.
