Obituary for Velma Owen (Thompson)

Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, August 14, 2017 at the age of 95. Preceded in death by her husband Warren, son Richard, daughter-in-law Patricia and her brothers and sisters. Loving mother to Terry (Judie). Beloved grandma to Michelle (Kevan) Kirk, Erin Owen Brogni, Rebecca Owen, Scott (Julie) Owen and Stacie Owen (Jason). She is survived by her sister Violet Hestekin, 7 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Velma was a foster parent who helped raise over 50 children. Her love and dedication to children was reflected in her life's work as a nursing aide in the nursery at Trinity hospital as well as 34 years of service as a day care teacher at St John Daycare in Cudahy, WI.

Visitation on Thursday, August 17 at the funeral home from 4 to 7 PM and on Friday, August 18 at St. John Lutheran Church (4850 S Lake Dr, Cudahy) from 9:30 to 10 AM with a service at 10 AM. Interment Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank Dr. Paul Robey, Aurora at Home Hospice and pastor Krueger for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St John Lutheran Church in Cudahy or to the MACC Fund appreciated.
